OrbStack crashes after upgrading to 1.6.0 about orbstack HOT 10 CLOSED

The memory_mib setting is in units of MiB, not bytes. You have it set to 25769803776, which means asking for 25,165,824 GiB of memory.

Fixed for the next version (will be clamped to maximum like before), but you can just change the setting for now.

For anyone with this issue, edit ~/.orbstack/vmconfig.json and set your memory_mib value to the number of megabytes you want to give OrbStack e.g. for 24GB use "memory_mib": 24576. Save the file, then you should be able to start OrbStack successfully.

Makes sense, to some extent. While on an older version of OrbStack (likely 1.0), I had previously set this value with the slider in system settings:

Seems to me that version 1.6.0 suddenly expects this value to be in MiB, whereas prior versions interpreted this as bytes. Something to consider checking for during startup.

Regardless, I'm now running 1.6 so thanks for the help.

It's always been interpreted as MiB, but previous versions clamped it to the maximum amount supported by your CPU (and so will v1.6.1).
