eurorack's Issues

Porting teensyOsc to 4.1

Howdy!

I’m working on porting your teensyOsc to 4.1. So far so good aside from a single problem I can’t quite wrap my head around and I was wondering if you had any insight.

I’m using a pcm5102a for the dac output and have confirmed that it’s functioning as it should via some low level audio scripts as well as some example hardware tests.

When I load the modified code (only thing changed was the removal of the dac to an i2s audio object) and removed the dac.analogReference(EXTERNAL); line. The output comes through just fine, but the audio is very “muddy” (almost like there’s cloudy pops in the output).

I’ve tried different pots, different ports etc but can’t seem to figure out the issue. I loaded the serial pot reads onto a teensy lc and can confirm that the pot output is within line/expectation (0.0-0.25).

many ideas here?

Not an Issue, only a hint to another line projects like Yours

Hi Otem,
I am watching Your DIY-Synths now for a long time. I have seen Your cool Woodwork. For me, it looks impressiv. You mostly use "simple" hardware and You make really art out of it. I know You prefer the Teensy - ICs. I had played around with Teensy and the ESP32 too but less luck.
Since this Year, a new developer has tried to create something with the ESP32 Wroom and the ESP32 A1S which includes a complete Audio-Interface. As the ESP32 has 2 Cores, one core could process Audio and the second manages the UI or the Sequencer. I believe, this could be a new option for You. Check Github and Youtube for "Marcel Licence ESP32".

He created a Basic Poly-Synth, a Sampler, a Looper ( Recorder), a FM-Synth and a Drum-Sample-Player. Most Projects are on Github! Only his Organ-Project is not on Github.
In some projects, he is able to use full 32 Bit for example for the Basic-Sampler which is better than the Teensy-Thing. The A1S is limited to 16 Bit in his code, Up to 32 Bit with a PCM1502. Perhaps these examples are interesting for You.
I stumbled across this project, pushed the code onto my old ESP32 and it works flawless. Currently I am trying/learning to use the second core of this ESP32 to create an UI ( Buttons, OLED; Pots, Rotary Encoder), Sound is comming from Marcels project.

Best Regards Erich
