Your issue

It perfectly works in Windows 11 ARM VM (Parallels 18) but doesn't work via Wine 7.7.0 (apple game porting toolkit 0.2 with Whisky) When I take folders from VM (ProgramFiles x86, ProgramData, Appdata/local, Appdata/roaming) it doesn't work too.

P.S. Using a program or adding a versions.dll file manually doesn't help in Wine but both options work fine in Virtual Machine

This is more or less a question as to whether this is normal or intended behavior. I don't want to link my Steam and EA accounts (mainly because if I want to un-merge later, they likely won't let me because of incompetence).

Your issue

It seems that EA has found a way to force an update to this current version of Origin.

Attempting to update the software will cause an error and you'll get stuck in the loop of "Origin needing an update"

Reinstalling the software will give you a nice "INSTALL EA" message indicating that EA does not tolerate Origin.

This is very dishearting to see greedy corpo going the extra step to kill a properly functional application.

Your issue

When installing EA DLC Unlocker v2 from anadius, this patch for Origin stops working because the unlocker replaces the patch file with its custom DLL, which has the same name as this patch (version.dll). Because of this, I can only use either the DLC unlocker (which is useless without this patch anyway) or the Origin patch. Can this be fixed? Or can this be fixed without fixing the code? (like renaming the patch file to some other name)

A focus for me for Mass Effect Legendary (ME:L) - which benefits from not having the EA App, since it breaks (by pushing a cloud save with all of them unlocked, whenever it's online) achievements.

(If you read this, and are willing to faff, you can follow the "set EA App to offline every single time you launch the game, and also delete the local achievements file while ME:L is in the launcher menu the first time" Link1

Follow the usual old origin version download, install: Link2

There's actually not much to do in principle: Wine (Proton) needs to be told to use your version.dll:

• either through the gui (winecfg), and adding 'version' to the list of libraries (Default is native first)
• or by adding WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" to the launch options.

This now, on Linux, GE-Proton7-48, gets me to the Origin library page. But it won't launch ME:L.
Proton8.0-2 on the same prefix is the same - Origin, but no game. It is hanging around as a background app though.

Love this project; allowed me to play Crysis 3 again finally; but issue I'm running into is that it doesn't work for EA games on steam that required origin previously and now moved requirement to EA app; so for example Battlefield V brings up a popup to install EA app when it is launched from steam.

I looked at your post on the matter: "If I try to launch Steam games, EA App comes up instead of Origin?
You probably installed/updated EA App after installing Origin, and as such EA App was associated to the link2ea:// protocol instead of Origin. To fix this, run through the Origin installer again. If you get an error that no application is assigned to the protocol, that means you probably uninstalled EA App without running the Origin installer afterwards again."

However I had previously uninstalled the EA app and then installed origin IAW the instructions on your post and did not install the EA App afterwards (it is nowhere on my system when I search for it with voidtools everything search tool).

Super appreciate the amazing work you have done; if you ever have time to tackle this steam issue that would be awesome; but I understand if you are too busy.

-Edit; it IS playable if I use the Origin client to initiate the launch (as opposed to steam) and simply close the install EA app pop up; FYSA.

hey, im here to complain about an issue ive had for a week or 2 now regarding my fc24 launching, the anti-cheat splash popping up (this image as shown)

and it would simply crash, no error code, no message, the application simply closes and the EA app opens.
ive searched for days for a fix, ive tried running the epic games and the ea app as admin, ive tried reinstalling the game 3-4 times, ive tried contacting them for support and i was met with an automated response with no help at all, ive even tried installing this origin app and the same shit happens but this time it opens the Origin app instead of the ea app lol.

im begging for a fix at this point, if anyone can recommend any fixes for me to try id appreciate it, i cant believe i have to go through this in order to play this shitty game.

I'm struggling with creating console like feeling with mini pc (windows 11 and steam ran as shell (without explorer.exe)). Steam is running as big picture mode and operated only thru gamepad. Currently I'm trying to run from big picture mode need for speed unbound. I found your genius program, but it helps partially - opens origin loader in background (instead of ea app in front) then shows steam overlay and in background runs game. And this is the issue - I need to use keyboard to alt+tab to game window.

After a download for Battlefield 1 is started the Origin client will throw error 262150:131086. I can continue the download afterwards, but the issue reappears every few minutes. BF1 seems to be the only affected game(tried with Titanfall 2 too, no issues there). Any suggestions? I was considering downloading 3rd party and locating the game through the launcher afterwards.

I am trying to run the game Dragon age Inquisition (game of the year with all DLC's installed) with frosty Mod Manager on Origin app and it was working without the small fix you have posted in in this month (again i tried without the fix still the problem persist) but after the fix it doesn't launch the game anymore with mods, to let you know the issue in details My PC is high end gaming PC and Run with Win 11 Home, so what is happening is: if press the Launch button in frosty mod manager after applying the mods, it doesn't launch but in task manager you will see the game app icon is under the Origin app and it is not working no matter how much I tried only if I clicked again on Origin app the game it will play the Vanilla game.

The mods i have installed are few not more than 20 and all are not conflicting with the game as I did play with it for 2 hours with no issues. Origin app with pop up is kind sucks because i can't Disable/or Enable other function within the app if I want to latter on.

I have tried run the game with Steam app through frosty mod but as Non-steam game but i couldn't play it as I can't download this game in my library also due to my country restriction placed on this game.

Just a suggestion: Since the Origin Overlay cannot be disabled in Steam, a simple batch file renaming igo64.dll should be enough to disable it, and it could be run at the same time of the FOEA install.

Doesn't work - looks like it's about to. For instance, BF 2042 will show the splash screen for a minute but then Origin opens up again and BF dissappears. Doesn't matter if I open it from Origin or Steam same thing happens.

The first time I tried, Steam installed EA Play again and removed Origin, so I removed EA Play manually, reinstalled Origin again to make sure it registered the file open type in the registry and then re-added the EA App registry key for InstallSuccessful.

You probably don't know but we Steam Controller (Windows) users are now 100% reliant on this app. Else, we need to use more complex workarounds to play our legally purchased games.

I don't know WTF the EA app is doing not but no matter what, Steam Input just doesn't hook up to the EA games I tested.

Linux users don't have this issue because EA caved for the Steam Deck and they are using Origin... so yeah, thankfully Origin isn't going away anytime soon because they need to support thousands of Steam Decks and the number will only go up.

When starting a game from the desktop shortcut they don't work, you have to enter the app, except for that, excellent work!

I ran an existing instance of this in sandboxie a few weeks ago and it was working fine, same instance today I get a message about it being unable to load my library and origin trying to open a webpage, which either is or redirects to the EA app page. Possibly broken again?

Your issue

From what I can find the origin store is basically shut down, but I'm still able to open Origin and get all the way to the payment information page. Considering the reason I can even open Origin PC is because of the fuckofEA exe, I was wondering if it's possible to buy games through Origin with it installed. Like does Origin still work when you buy a game or not. Figured best place to ask would be here

When I launch fifa 22 from steam, origin opens, but when I click PLAY, origin opens and above it says "The Origin store is currently disabled because it was launched from another application. Restart Origin to access the store" but the game does not open
