pass-extension-tail's Issues

default pass action

Is it possible replace the default action for pass
So % pass somepass would do the same as % pass tail somepass?

Abstraction, semantic of sub-commands

While "pass" is trying to abstract all commands from underlying encryption statements to give the user a streamlined experience when dealing with passwords, this way the user do not need to take care underlying statements, a point where this plugin fails (i love this plugin for its features).

This plugin should follow the same semantic as the main program. As "tail" is a technical aspect, the plugin should the emphasis on "what to do" not on "how to do", as the main program does.

Suggested sub-command name (instead of "tail"):

  • showmeta
    instead of "tailedit":
  • editmeta

The old sub-commands should be deprecated but still existing for a grace period.
I know this feels like a "big change" because "tail" is part of the plugin name, but please do the change.

Add Bash completion

Hey, first of all thank you for this great extension!

I'd like to suggest to add bash completion. Shouldn't be that much work (there are only two commands :)).

What do you think?

Feature Request: Show password, but red on red to make it copy-and-paste-able, but still not visible

Since I occasionally use pass via SSH, automatically copying passwords into the clipboard is not always doable.

I used Keepass and especially kpcli before. With kpcli I really liked its way to output datasets with the password itself in red text on red background. That way, the password is not visible to any bystander, but I can easily copy and paste it with the mouse or with GNU Screen into a copy-and-paste buffer. The color also shows me where the boundaries of the password are.

I might implement this myself, but if I do so, I'll likely base it on the code of pass-extension-tail. So I wondered if such a feature would be in the scope of pass-extension-tail itself, maybe as pass color or pass ctail. Or with an option, maybe -c.

Copy first line to clipboard and print tail at same time?

This is a great extension, thanks for making it!

I'm not sure how hard this would be, or if there's already a way of doing it, but I would really like to be able to copy the password to clipboard and print all lines except for the password to terminal to remind me my username and such. I'm imagining something like this:

$ pass tail -c amazon.com
URL: *.amazon.com/*
Username: [email protected]
Copied amazon.com to clipboard. Will clear in 45 seconds.

What would be the best way of achieving something like this?
