Background

I hacked up a data flow diagram to help nail down some terms. It was originally intended to prep for ksf's internship contributions.

It turned out to be a useful experiment. Josh recommended that we expand it into a blog post.

Task

• Write up a blog post based on this slide
• Focus on the kind of data flowing around, and the volume of data we expect
• As a secondary thing, use it as a place to define some terminology relevant to our data pipeline

It's also a good opportunity to talk about the GCP involvement :)

It would be nice to have a list of press attention we have received.

I'm working on converting the "PANOPTES System Description" Google Doc to markdown, and would like to reference pages with the history of the project and the science aspects. Ideally we could make use of Olivier's pages at https://www.naoj.org/staff/guyon/09allskysurvey.web/content.html, preferably by updating/copying them into this site.

Discuss the mythology behind "Panoptes" and why we chose it for our acronym.

• Adjust this template to a dark theme, to match the rest of projectpanoptes.org

Bonus items

• Consider adding some auto-thumbnail processing scripts, because we will probably have lots of pretty images and it'd be nice if they were compressed

The images need to be updated to work with the black page background (the images were transparent, so dark lines disappeared).
