I am curious if this project is still being developed. We would like to the extend the ndarray structure which means changing the NPY_SIZEOF_PYARRAYOBJECT (it will not be a compile time constant anymore).

Basically, this means this project would have to be recompiled and update the NPY_SIZEOF_PYARRAYOBJECT to a constant value and then check at import time that constant >= NPY_SIZEOF_PYARRAYOBJECT or raise an error due to binary incompatibility with that NumPy version.

This is the only project I am aware of that subclasses np.ndarray in C (but it may not be), and right now my assumption is that it would be fine to update it (if it is used at all).
