hermit's Issues

Italic Versions

It would be neat to have italic fonts. For e.g. in vim
highlight Comment cterm=italic

make doesn't install the fonts

I've downloaded the repo using git clone and used make to install the fonts. However, I'm getting this error

cp: cannot stat 'Hermit*.otf': No such file or directory
make: *** [Makefile:13: install] Error 1

After inspection, I see there're no .otf files present inside the project directory. How do I solve this issue?

Google Web Fonts

This font is adorable. How about getting hosted on Google web fonts?

Asymmetry between slash and backslash

Hi,

very lovely font, but there is one thing I don't quite understand: Why did you distinguish the two slashes in such a way that only one rests on the baseline? I am just genuinely curious why. I mean, slashes and backslashes are almost always entirely different beasts semantically, so breaking the symmetry makes sense, but I would have expected a play with, say the weight of the characters (maybe the backslash being a bit lighter as it usually serves as an escape character), but not their relative horizontal orientation.

Homebrew Cask Fonts

Hola, Pablo 🖖

Thanks for the great font!
Have you considered adding it to Homebrew Fonts?
If you are not against it, I can file a PR thereto.

Cheers,
Olzhas

Font not displayed on Sample Home Page

When I access the site https://pcaro.es/p/hermit/ the following JavaScript Errors are shown:

downloadable font: rejected by sanitizer (font-family: "hermit" style:normal weight:400 stretch:100 src index:1) source: https://pcaro.es/p/hermit/Hermit-Regular.woff

I am using Firefox 87

Bold version has different size and line height

The bold version of this font use larger spacing (also visible from the screenshot).

The problem with this is it means in Emacs for eg, mixing bold & regular weight characters (in search highlighting for eg) makes the lines wiggle as you move the cursor around.

Ideally the weight could be different, keeping the width and line height unchanged.

[Request] Variant with reduced vertical spacing

Hey, first of all, great font! I really like it but would like to have a bit less vertical spacing (line spacing) to see more lines of code on the screen at once (at the same font size).

Would it be possible make a version with less spacing? If not, can I set that manually for just this font in something like fontconfig?

EDIT: This is a sample on alacritty with the line spacing reduced in it's config. I would appreciate if there was a version with the spacing like this. While alacritty allows to set the line spacing manually, not applications do.

Cyrillic symbols

Hey, hermit is great font, but doesn't suuport Cyrillic.
Will it be?

Font does not work with windows console.

I fell in love with this font and after using it for about a year on my linux installation, I wanted to use it for my Windows consoles too. I found an article on TechRepublic about how to add fonts because it currently only supports these fonts:
image

Now the article mentions that any font to be used in the console

  • has to be monospaced and FF_MODERN (I guess Hermit is a TrueType Font)
  • must not be italic
  • can not have negative A or C space

Can anyone give me hints which requirement this font does not fulfill and how to modify the files to use the font?

Thanks in advance :)

dotted zero variant

I really dig this font. It's peculiar, and I dig it. I'm not a big fan of the way zero looks. I wonder if we could get a dotted zero variant. I could get to tinkering with it, but I'm no good at it, really.

Thanks for the font!
