Current Elders - wrong link

on the code of conduct page there is a link to "current elders"
The link goes to the /about/ page which is fine but should jump to the current elders section.

Add link tags to make this link jump down the page

Recent Posts - All Posts

it would be nice if next to "Recent Posts" we could change this to add a link to see all posts. I envision it looks something like "Recent Posts [all posts]"

Currently the home page will list all posts with a next button.

Another idea may be to allow paging from within the side widget?

revamp

Sean W has some ideas about moving from a static page/slide to a proper website

Theme - missing <code> styles

"pre" HTML tags are styled but not "code" in markdown,
foo generates < code > block
bar generates < pre > block.

Add some styles to < code >. This should follow similar styles to < pre > but inline, not block style. Pre also has a lot of extra padding

Important Links

On the website, there is a right-nav with the heading Important Links. In that nav, the links for People's Scooter and Scooter appear to be backwards.

The People's Scooter is the original Dojo implementation. The newer one is Scooter (or more commonly, The Official Scooter).

Submodule confusion

Don't think submodules are the correct solution. When trying to get a clone of a fork working for development:

Evans-MacBook-Pro:peidevs.github.io evanporter$ git submodule init
Evans-MacBook-Pro:peidevs.github.io evanporter$ git submodule update
Cloning into '/Users/evanporter/projects/peidevs.github.io/themes/mainroad'...
Warning: Permanently added the RSA host key for IP address '192.30.253.112' to the list of known hosts.

fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.
fatal: clone of '[email protected]:swhalley/Mainroad.git' into submodule path '/Users/evanporter/projects/peidevs.github.io/themes/mainroad' failed
Failed to clone 'themes/mainroad'. Retry scheduled

I think the key piece of info is fatal: clone of '[email protected]:swhalley/Mainroad.git' into submodule path .... The submodule is pointing to user swhalley's repo and appears to think I need write access to it.

Will need to think about what could achieve the same goal as git's seemingly brittle submodule system.

Error due to tweet shortcode when running locally

Getting the following error when running hugo server:

Building sites … ERROR 2019/02/19 17:55:42 Failed to get JSON resource "https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/oembed.json?id=371027347111440384&dnt=false": Failed to retrieve remote file: Forbidden

Total in 557 ms
Error: Error building site: logged 2 error(s)

I found a fix here which involves overriding Hugo's default tweet shortcode to detect if it is run by Hugo's internal server.

minor typos, grammar refactoring

  • Code of Conduct [Purpose]: "We want people to feel safe and not have to be worried" could simply be "We want people to feel safe and not worry"
  • Code of Conduct [The Quick Version]: "We do not tolerate" could be "We won't tolerate". (An informal contraction is used later in the paragraph, so this fits better).
  • Code of Conduct [general]: it uses both "behaviour" and "behavior" (presumably cut-and-paste from American source)

Logo Missing

Our new logo isn't displayed
Can we replace "PEI Developers" in the header?
favicon.ico is another spot

centering

the main div isn't really centered, which will drive you crazy if you let it
