Description

SOCprint web uses a POSIX™-compliant, zero-dependency script to print in SOC NUS. No more printer driver installation, no more weird instructions. Hassle-free and privacy focused.

The web client communicates with a backend that does NOT store any client credentials. This repository is a monorepository that contains both the client and server code.

V1 Features

Description

These are the list of features that are deemed crucial for a V1 release. Note that some of the more ambitious features may be simplified here and fully implemented in a future milestone.

Tasks

Mobile

  • Mobile-friendly interface
  • PWA support

Printing

  • Ability to select printer from dropdown menu
  • Ability to select double-sided pages
  • Ability to print two logical pages on one physical page
  • Filetype validation (Use MIME)
  • File size limit
  • Separating out users into their own folders so files don't override each other (*)

UX

  • Local storage for sunfire username, selected printer
  • Session storage for password, uploaded file
  • Progress monitoring
    • Visual cue to indicate job submitted to sunfire (e.g. loading icon followed by checkmark)
    • Visual cues to indicate various stages (e.g. job sent to server, job sent to sunfire, job queued on sunfire, job printed)
  • Display prompt on hover when dragging and dropping file to upload
