3Chan Client

This project simulates a chatroom. It was on display at an internet-themed party in 2018. Over the course of the evening, the chatroom descends from "civility" into "madness".

Controls

ctrl+shift+[ - previous topic
ctrl+shift+] - next topic
ctrl+shift+j - make chatroom "worse"
ctrl+shift+k - make chatroom "better"
ctrl+shift+up - speed up
ctrl+shift+down - speed up

Setup

yarn to install packages
yarn run cats && yarn run chats to download image data

Deployment

yarn deploy to push to GitHub pages.

Add subliminal messages from the shadows

When a specific phrase is typed, temporarily post a bunch of bad content.

this is jarring. maybe we can have a moderator message that topic has been changed? or, an intermediate state as the page loads a new topic...?

when importing memes, replace all the 17s with other numbers

Use Markov chain or something to generate actual memes, not just clickbait

Store all user-entered messages in local storage

This way we can look at them after the event 4 the lulz

Add fanfic

Find some really bad bits of fanfic - maybe paragraph-long excerpts. Substitute out the names of characters and places for Take 3 people. Post the best bits over time
