I think that according to material-design, the actionBar/appBar shouldn't have icons/logos anymore, as shown here:

I wonder if there is a guideline which helps when one want to design custom icons for Google Maps. Please feel free to add useful links if you can recommend any.

To enable everybody to see which version of the document is online on GitHub pages I suggest you introduce version tags. These should be rendered into the website. Optionally, you could make the version tag a clickable link referring to the repository tag.

I am missing naming conventions for the icons used in a Navigation Drawer ...

I have not seen any rules and would think a prefix like ic_navdraw_ would make sense.
