     }

Preston Ave & 4th St NW

  1. Railroad tracks (unused for decades) across sidewalk make it difficult for wheelchairs and other lower-mobility users.
  2. Bike lane on Preston ends here
  3. Long distance from stop bar to turn
  4. Degraded pavement markings

Garrett St and 2nd St SE

  1. Crosswalk and stop bar markings are significantly degraded.
  2. Crosswalk markings should be upgraded to continental style markings.

Monticello Ave and 2nd St SE

  1. Pavement Markings degraded.
  2. 2 legs use standard markings rather than continental style
  3. Part of one standard marking is gone due to curb cut.
  4. Signal cycle is very long, leading to long wait times for pedestrians. This is especially apparent on Saturday mornings.
  5. Signal time for crossing Monticello is inadequate for the length, making this dangerous for slower walker, particularly relevant to its proximity to Crescent Halls.

Primary corridor connecting Ix Park to Downtown Mall. Public housing (Crescent Halls and Friendship Court) on diagonal parcels.

Market St and 2nd St NE

Issues:

  1. Only 3 of 4 legs are marked. Missing leg is adjacent to a bus stop
  2. Flexstakes signs incorrectly state that drivers must yield to pedestrians instead of stopping for pedestrians.
  3. Crosswalk paint is no longer bright.

E Water St & 3rd St SE

  1. Stone blocks are more difficult to walk and roll over, but offer no contrast to asphalt pavement to speed design drivers to slow down.
  2. No clear crosswalk markings, as all blocks are similar color.

image

Garrett St and 4th St SE

  1. Part of crosswalk removed during street cut
  2. Marking across Garrett is nearly completely gone, and was an inadequate "Transverse Lines" style
  3. Only 2 of 3 possible crosswalk paths were marked to begin with.
  4. Anti-slip mat on south crosswalk is detached.

Monticello Ave and 6th St SE

  1. Degraded pavement markings
  2. wide lane coming down hill from Avon encourages drivers to speed
  3. crosswalk has no speed design affordances
{

         "coordinates": [-78.480708, 38.025162],

Garrett St and 6th St SE

  1. Crosswalk markings are significantly degraded. "Standard" style markings across Garrett are nearly invisible, and a large portion of one of them is gone from a street cut. "Contenental" style markings are highly worn.
  2. There is significant loose aggregate in the roadway from adjacent construction.

E Water St. and 2nd St SE

  1. Only 2 legs of a 3-way signalized crosswalk are marked.
  2. Pavement markings on those 2 legs are degraded
  3. The only Leading Pedestrian Interval signal in the City, but not automatic walk, even though there's constant traffic between the DTM and Water Street parking garage.
