Remove dependencies where possible. Gather all vendored libraries in a single subpackage. Refactor code that uses them. Goal should be to make them actual dependencies that can be installed with pip.

Replace tag sh script with a python version so that it will work on windows.

It would be nice to have docs at least partially updated via docstrings on each release via sphinx autodoc. It looks like there's already been some effort towards that.

Installation is currently a bit awkward and will error on windows unless you run it from an adminstrator shell.

The project maintainers have already expressed a desire to deprecate and remove rez-bind. It makes sense to

• Combine the installation and quickstart bind into one step.
• Remove the symlinking that causes permissions issues on windows.
• Update for python 2/3 compatibility.
• Remove vendored libraries and force pip to download them.

Old school unittests have a lot more boilerplate and result in a lot more code to maintain.

Plugins shouldn't require updates to upstream or forking rez.

pip complains about the data dir path ending in a slash

Most of the examples are in cmake, and a lot of work has been done to make rez builds with cmake easy, but it is broken out of the box on windows.
