xmpp-bot-boilerplate

Execute basic premade shell commands through xmpp.

Only runs on linux.

npm install xmpp @xmpp/client @xmpp/debug

then

node xmpp-bot.js

Groupchat stanza

Change all the Message stanzas to type: groupchat and change the name to whatever group you are in.

xmpp.send(xml('presence', {from: '', to: ''}, xml('x', {xmlns: 'http://jabber.org/protocol/muc'}))

Make sure to specify the nick name at the end of the conference or you will get a malformed error

add the from const. So you can see who executed the command.

const { to, from } = stanza.attrs; stanza.attrs.from = to; stanza.attrs.to = from;

Remove message variables from commands

Remove the console log variable from each command and put below so you can see each body message instead of looking for it in the xml stream.

// This displays all the body messages
xmpp.on("stanza", (stanza) => {
  bodymessage = stanza.getChildText('body')
  console.log('\n','\x1b[1m\x1b[36m','Message:',bodymessage,'\x1b[0m','\n')
});
