beta's Issues

No Flatpak applications listed in Pop!_Shop

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)

Upgrade from 19.10

Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):

pop-shop:
  Installé : 3.1.1pop0~1585158386~20.04~cafc28e
  Candidat : 3.1.1pop0~1585158386~20.04~cafc28e

Issue/Bug Description:

No Flatpak applications are not listed in Pop!_Shop despite Flathub being correctly registered in repoman.

Steps to reproduce (if you know):

I had flatpak and the Flathub repo installed manually on Pop!_OS 19.10 using the following instructions.

After the upgrade, I wiped my flatpak install with flatpak uninstall --all --delete-data --asumeyes and tried to reinstall the Flatpak apps using Pop!_Shop.

Unfortunately, none of them are listed. I tried Slack, Steam or VSCode, only the DEB versions are available for install. I can still install them from the command-line via regular flatpak install flathub $APP_ID.

Expected behavior:

Flatpak-only applications should be listed in Pop!_Shop (for instance VSCode OSS). Other applications available both as DEB and Flatpak should list Flathub as a source in the choice menu alongside the install button.

The system76-power is disabled by default in extensions.

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)
Fresh install from ISO.

Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):
NONE.

Issue/Bug Description:
The system76-power is disabled by default on a clean installed system when opening extensions application.

Steps to reproduce (if you know):
Download the ISO and install a fresh system.

Expected behavior:
The system76-power should be enabled by default on a clean install when opening extensions application.

Other Notes:
NONE.

Not possible to remove 2 apps from Pop Shop

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)
Fresh install

Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):
Gnome Weather App and Videos

Issue/Bug Description:
When trying to uninstall them from Pop Shop they refuse to uninstall with a message stating I'm trying to remove an essential package.

Steps to reproduce (if you know):
Go to Pop Shop, installed apps, select gnome weather or videos and uninstall. After entering password they are not uninstalled.

Expected behavior:
They both apps should be able to uninstall. In 19.10 is possible.

Other Notes:

Desktop shown for several seconds after resuming from sleep | Oryx Pro (oryp5)

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)

Fresh Install

Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):

Issue/Bug Description:
On the Oryx Pro, Pop OS 20.04 shows the desktop for a few seconds before displaying the lock screen / password entry.

Steps to reproduce (if you know):
Close lid on Oryx Pro, lift it to resume from sleep.
(Power settings: Balanced, Hybrid Graphics)

Expected behavior:
Expected behavior is to immediately see the lock screen. This could be a privacy / security / sensitivity issue for some people.

Other Notes:

Buttons in gnome top bar are too big and overlap with the application

Steps to reproduce (if you know):

Expected behavior:
Buttons should look like the clock.

Other Notes:

EULA window for ttf-mscorefonts-installer seems to pop up in wrong location

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)

Upgrade from 19.10 v14 iso

Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):

ttf-mscorefonts-installer 3.7ubuntu6

Issue/Bug Description:

When installing the above package using Synaptic, the EULA window pops up behind the "Installing software" window

Steps to reproduce (if you know):

  1. Install Synaptic via
    IMG_0246
    IMG_0246

Pop!_Shop
2. Install ttf-mscorefonts-installer package

Expected behavior:

Would expect the EULA window to pop up in front of the "Installing software" window. Once the EULA agreed to, it would disappear and the "Installing software" window would be on top as the installation progresses to finish.

Other Notes:

This could well be an upstream issue. When I was testing Ubuntu 20.04 I think I installed this package from the terminal, thus I would not have seen this behavior. I don't recall this behavior in either 19.10 of Pop!_Os or Ubuntu.

Command Line Upgrade not working

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)

sudo pop-upgrade release upgrade systemd -f

Issue/Bug Description:

Various issues concerning .desktop behaviour

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)

Upgraded to Pop!_OS 20.04 from Pop!_OS 19.10 using sudo pop-upgrade release upgrade systemd -f

Issue/Bug Description:

  • The App Grid is blank upon opening.
  • Attempting to view frequent applications causes the shell to crash.
  • It is not possible to open applications using the shell search function (as upon typing a query, it hangs indefinitely on "searching...").

Steps to reproduce (if you know):

  • Super + A to open the App Grid`
  • Click Frequent after opening the App Grid
  • Press Super and type the name of an application.

Expected behaviour:

  • The App Grid displays an alphabetical list of applications with some inside folders, or a list of the most frequently used applications.
  • Pressing Super and typing the name of an application allows one to open said application by pressing Enter.

Some icons break in the Pop Shop

Looks like some of the icons break in the Pop Shop. I am not sure if that is only the case with Flatpak. Contrast is one instance, another one from the usability testing is PyCharm. With the last one, it didn't show correctly in the launcher as well.

Weird Resizing Of App Windows

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)
Fresh Install

Issue/Bug Description:
The tiling works as expected - however, with Tiling turned off, I noticed a weird resizing issue.

1st try: When I want to simply have two different applications divided on two sides of the screen - it automatically shrinks one application window. Here's how it looks:

https://imgur.com/41sdt8Q

2nd try: While I had Firefox already active, I tried to launch another application. Usually, the second app (such as slack/File Manager) should just launch on top of that - but it shrinks Firefox and launches the second app on top of that as well.

Here's a screenshot of that: https://imgur.com/xCbe5wb

Expected behavior:

On 1st try, it should just easily split both the app window with 50-50% occupied by each app without resizing one of them.

On 2nd try the primary active windows (Firefox, in my case) should not be resized when I launch a new app.

Other Notes:
It's definitely annoying and needs to be addressed. Everything else seems to be working fine for me - will report if I find anything else.

New application switcher makes no sense

The default wallpaper is the issue, not any specific application.

Steps to reproduce (if you know):
With default wallpaper, hit Super + Enter with tiling mode off, and move the cursor over the blue wallpaper.

Expected behavior:
We might want to use a wallpaper that doesn't clash with the window management mode cursor so much.

deb - arduino not showing in popshop. Neovim showing up twice.

How did you upgrade to 20.04? (Fresh install / Upgrade)
pop-os_20.04_amd64_intel_4.iso
Installed on a VM.

Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):
Arduino, Neovim and possibly others as well.

Issue/Bug Description:
The package arduino is available using apt. In Pop Shop I can only see the flatpak version named Arduino IDE. The drop-down menu doesn't have an apt option, just flathub. Even if I install the deb version of arduino it still not showing in pop shop.

Neovim has a somewhat similar issue. There are 3 entries in the search for Neovim.
Obviously Neovim-qt is it's own thing, but the other two Neovim entries should be one. One is the deb version and the other is the flatpak version.

Other Notes:

There could be more packages like that, but its not a very big deal.
