Are stage-packages really needed to be downloaded everytime snapcraft is executed?

I mean, im using linux and I already have those packages, is it really needed?

I have downloaded this repo and run snapcraft on it, without changing something, just to check, if it works. The snap has been built and I have installed it with
sudo snap install --dangerous lovegame_0.1_amd64.snap
But if I want to run it with
snap run lovegame
I just get the error:
error: open /snap/lovegame/x1/meta/snap.yaml: permission denied
I have tried to built and install it a second time, but I always get this error. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04.

For my own LÖVE game, I'm use the same technique that you do to install love and liblove, but I haven't been able to get the liblove part to build, presumably because of the symbolic link?

FileExistsError: [Errno 17] File exists: 'liblove.so.0.0.0' -> '/synthein/package/snapcraft/parts/liblove/install/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liblove.so.0'

Is this because snapcraft has changed and this pattern is no longer valid, or is it a bug in snapcraft?
