The purpose of this project was to scrape lyrics data from rapgenius.com to predict whether hip hop topics have changed over the last 30yrs. I scraped 1000's of songs and orgainized them into different samples which were organized by decade, to interpret any new topics of conversation would have accurred in hip-hop overtime. Throughout the project, techniques of studying this data included NMF and LDA to see how lyrics changed overtime. The project utilizes the concepts of data spliting on the data in order to accurately test datasets for real world use. Attached are files including the code and presentation for the project. Libraries used include numpy, pandas, scikit learn,seaborn and matplotlib.
