You might have to enable the "Prompt Before Quit" option.

Edit > Preferences > Notifications > "Prompt Before Quit"

Currently the code snippet for core editor is export EDITOR="pluma".

I understand this is for the terminal session, but would git config core.editor pluma be more appropriate?

Run that within the repo and without --global as to only set for this repo.

Now that I'm looking back at the vim reference that I wrote, it's kinda a blend between a guide and a reference.

What would you say the key differences are and how do I make it into one or the other?

Or should these two concepts be combined?

In lab3init y'all don't modify ~/cs190lab3 (besides removing it), but your script's output suggested that it did. I found this confusing.
