import_opml functionalty raises 'ExpatError: not well-formed' for valid XML containing funky chars about django-yarr HOT 3 CLOSED

Thanks for the report, but I still can't recreate the error! Odd. Maybe it's some underlying library - which OS and version of python are you using?

I had a feed with the same non-ASCII character, and it imported without any problem (from a google reader export), so I doubt it's a weird encoding issue that's just getting lost in copy/paste.

Hmm. It's Python 2.7.3 Ubuntu on Ubuntu Quantal (12.10?).

Could be a locale thing? Locale output says 'POSIX' a lot, rather than en_GB.UTF8, which is what I'd expect.

Ok, so I updated the encoding declaration to be iso-8859-1 rather than UTF-8. It now ingests.

Copying and pasting from GH means you got a valid UTF-8 file, but the google reader takeout had generated iso-8859-1 instead of UTF-8, and then declared it as UTF-8. Weird.
