vim's Introduction

Rainglow

VIM (BETA)

Rainglow is a collection of color themes for a number of different editors and platforms. This repository consists of 320+ syntax and UI themes for VIM.

To show support for the project, you can do any (or many!) of the following:

IMPORTANT

These themes are for GUI VIM only, they don't make sense in 256 colour consoles.

Use something like GVim/MacVim.

These themes are in BETA. Vim is tricky to theme, so please report anything odd! Where possible, provide files that can be used to reproduce the issues you've found.

Manual Installation

Clone the repository and copy the contents of the 'colors' directory into ~/.vim/colors or use a plugin manager like Plug or Vundle and add "rainglow/vim" as a plugin.

Use the following examples for theme switching by name:

colorscheme bold
colorscheme bold-contrast
colorscheme bold-light

Suggested settings:

set number
set linespace=3
set guifont=Fira\ Code:h12
set cursorline

Useful Information

This project is an evolution of my colour schemes project found at https://github.com/daylerees/colour-schemes. Peacock was the first ever theme. I created it to try and find something to use other than Monokai. It's now a favourite for many users!

If you'd like to report a bug with one of the color schemes, please raise an issue on the repository rather than submitting a pull request. This is because the themes run through a generation process, and editing the themes directly is not advised!

Have a wonderful day!

Dayle.

vim's Issues

Sign/fold column has light background, number column has extremely low contrast

Hi there!

Thanks for contributing to Rainglow.

Please try to provide as much of the following information as possible.

  • Which editor/software are you using? Vim 9.0, terminal w/ 24-bit true-color support enabled via set termguicolors inside the foot terminal (which also has 24-bit color support)
  • Which theme are you using? absent-contrast
  • Have you tested the issue with other themes? Yes
  • Which version of Rainglow do you have installed? 1.5.4
  • Can you provide screenshots to highlight the issue? Yes

If the above requirements don't make sense, just let me know how I can help. :)

Thanks!
Dayle.

The fold and sign columns have a light background. In addition, the number column has too low of a contrast. Other than that, I really like the colors. I'm looking forward to checking out the other themes, but I noticed that this is not the only one with this issue.

Plugin friendly Repo

If we move the folder from themes to colors, they will automatically be available to vim via :colorschemes .

My use case is im using plug, and upon installing no themes were present until the above change was made.

Also as a minor, the name or the repo (vim), doesn't look too great in a folder managed by a plugin manager, maybe something like rainglow-vim would be better suited?

If you want any pull requests or anything, please feel free to let me know.

Colorscheme that I see doesn't match the preview

  • I'm using MacVim.
  • The theme I tried is peacock
  • I have the most recent version.
  • This is what I see:

It looks like this issue is only with certain themes. I tried absent and it worked, but bold did not.
