ESRI REST Diagnostics

A list of JavaScript bookmarklets that can be used to test ArcGIS Server Map Services through the browser.

Features

The bookmarklets provided add extra information to the ArcGIS Server REST endpoint pages. They work by collecting the underlying data and adding the results to the current HTML REST Service page. Some of features include:

Instructions

Installation

Installation on the browser is as simple as adding a bookmark. From the ESRI Rest Diagnostics page...

Chrome: drag the anchor link to your browser toolbar.
Firefox: right-click on the link and select "Bookmark this link".
IE: right-click on the link and select "Add to Favorites".
Safari: untested.
Opera: drag the anchor link to your browser toolbar.

Basic Use

Each tool as its own basic use policy. They all involve navigating your web browser to the map service REST endpoint. From there, select the proper bookmark from the bookmark list.

Requirements

Desktop browser (IE8+, Chrome, Firefox)
Security settings that support bookmarklets.
Access to an ArcGIS Server REST endpoint in browser.
Some tools require access to ArcGIS JavaScript API library.

Map Viewer - need support for ImageServer

Map Viewer needs support for Image Server. It currently supports Dynamic, Tiled, and FeatureLayers.

Query Helper - Add single quotes ('')

Add a single quotes button to the Query Helper

Query Helper minimized doesn't work as bookmarklet

When copying and pasting the QueryHelper.min.js code as a bookmarklet into Chrome, the code fails to run. A couple of quotes within the creation of the list of field names need to be escaped.

Dealing with secure services

What do these tools do when accessing secure services?

Need Installation instructions for Safari browser

Currently, installation instructions work are shown for Chrome, IE, and Firefox. Need installation instructions and animated .gif or video instructions for installing on Safari.

Print Tasks made easy

Need a way to make print tasks easier to work with.

Query Helper - Get unique values for a field from a list

Based on the "Select By Attributes" tool in ArcMap, get some unique values from a field through a query and add them to another list to select.

RestSearch fails on rest service endpoint with lots of folders and mapservices

Running RestSearch on an html page with lots of folders and mapservices to search only returns some of the matches. Probably too many xhr requests for the browser to handle, and timeout ensues.

Query Field Tester - Nothing happens when server error occurs.

Need to show an error message if the REST requests from the Query Field Tester throws an error. This could be due to an underlying geodatabase error or something.

Map Extent Viewer

Load a map that shows the initial and full extent of a mapservice (or a list of map services) on a world map, and lets you highlight them.

Show Map

Can we get a "Show Map" bookmarklet so that when you're on a rest service page for a mapservice, it displays the map for that service on the page?
