Nothing was created in the Refinery backend?
Did you run rake refinery:portfolio:install and then rake db:migrate and then restart your web server?

... the same for me, with refinerycms 0.9.7.7 and refinerycms-portfolio 0.9.7 No link appear in the backend too, until I've dropped the DB ( it was empty ) and run "rake db:setup". This time appeared into backend but disappeared from Home page navigation link. You can add photos to portfolio but when you go back to the site, manually entering the url http://localhost:3000/portfolio/gallery in my case, you get an empty page with message "We haven't entered anything in for this project yet."

lgs: Check out the latest commit, I believe you have a multilevel portfolio and you're attempting to create a non-multilevel portfolio. Djone's latest commit should fix it.
