Is it possible to give to your directive a json variable instead of a json file?
because I have a json file like yours, but it's an array, of severals albums, with your array ( img and alt )
for exemple:

   photos: [{img:'photo1',alt:'photo 1'},
                 {img:'photo2',alt:'photo 2'} 
                ]
  },
  {album: 'album2',
   photos: [..............]
  }
]
