rladies-chicago.github.io's Issues

Include link to website Github repo on website

So that people can easily access this repo to file issues, make PRs, and the such! It might also be useful to include some text that says "if you find a typo, please feel free to submit an issue / PR at this link"

Set up Travis-CI to auto-deploy site

Here's how to do it:

  1. Enable the use of Travis-CI on this repository (may need to do through your Travis-CI account), aka give permission for the Travis bots to operate on this repository. Angela can set up this if needed. You can also create a Travis-CI account.
  2. Include a .travis.yml file in the development branch that basically is a copy of this .travis.yml file from the ChiRCollab website, except modify lines 26-28 to be:
 branch: development
local_dir: # or even just get rid of this line
    repo: rladies-chicago/rladies-chicago.github.io

Here's documentation from the official blogdown site:

Add photo to October meetup event

After every meetup, we add a photo and caption to the event posting on the website.

It would be great if someone could do this for our October Meetup!

To do this, you'll need to work off the development branch. You'll need to:

  1. Take a photo! ๐Ÿ“ธ (or really, ๐Ÿ“ฑ)
  2. Add the photo to the following directory: static > img > events. It should be named with the following convention: YYYY-MM-DD-meetup.jpg
  3. Then, add the photo to the event posting. Find the event posting in content > talk > 2019-10-29-Meetup.md
  4. Add the filename as the featured image. Be sure to include the directory it is in (i.e., write "events/IMG_NAME"
  5. Be sure to preview site before committing & opening a PR.

Add study group list to site

Maybe just a list of previous/potential study groups, if people are interested? One point brought up during the Meetup tonight was that it's hard to know about the study groups if you aren't already on the Slack.

Could add a call to action to join the Slack for more information/to join
