Hmmm... Sounds like you're a bit confused about TCP, and about how the AsyncSocket library works.

For example:

• Tags are not sent or received over the socket in any way what-so-ever.
• The didReadData delegate isn't invoked unless you make a readData request.

TCP is THE underlying protocol that is used for subscription events. And AsyncSocket is perfect for writing just such a library.

Please take a look at the Wiki articles. I promise you, there are absolutely zero changes that you need to make to AsyncSocket. You just need to understand it's underlying technology, and how to go about using it.
