What if add a "Next" item to the right menu on desktop which provided a function easily move on to next background without pannel icon?
Please update the extension to be compatible with Gnome version 3.20
Hi, I'm having the error on the title on my fedora 23 with GNOME 3.18.2.
Here's the relevant log from 'journalctl /usr/bin/gnome-shell': http://pastie.org/private/nhvhtc890kdhehnydvocg
Hi I tried installing this extension from http://extensions.gnome.org
It was not working also if the extension was visible in gnome-tweak-tool and I could configure it; I decided than to uninstall and reinstall but this time it could not be installed at all.
In the javascript console I've got this error:
uncaught exception: GDBus.Error:org.gnome.Shell.LoadExtensionError: Error: Type name RandWallSettingsWidget is already registered
I'm on Gnome: Version 3.22.2
When used with own photo gallery some photos can have portrait orientation (what usually doesn't look good when treated as landscape photo). It would be useful to detect it (via Exif information), rotate and use that temporarily created picture instead.
Looks like there's been some breaking changes. I am running gnome-shell 3.34.5 and Looking Glass now throws an error with this extension:
TypeError: this._indicator.currentThumbs.setWallThumb is not a function
.
Gnome's systemd log has these complaints at startup:
Some code accessed the property 'WallUtils' on the module 'wallpapers'. That property was defined with 'let' or 'const' inside the module. This was previously supported, but is not correct according to the ES6 standard. Any symbols to be exported from a module must be defined with 'var'. The property access will work as previously for the time being, but please fix your code anyway.
Hi,
can you update the extension to be compatible with Gnome version 3.38, please?
It is no longer working with Fedora 33 or other distributions which are using newer Gnome releases.
Best regards,
Samuel
Hello
I tried to use this extension simultaneously with GPaste and it crashes GPaste or Gnome session. After disabling all problems are gone. I tried it some time ago and now again, the problem persists.
I am using arch linux, and tried with several Gnome versions (at least 3.18, 3.20, 3.22).
Any chance of keeping the list of pictures and cycling through each one before regenerating the selection list? It would keep pulling from the list at random but each time the next wallpaper is chosen, remove it from the selection list, this includes manually skipped ones also. Can check the last change/modified date of directories each check to see if the contents changed and automatically regenerate the full list if so. Maybe add a manual refresh button to do the same too. Not sure if this is worth bothering with for the lockscreen (I don't use that part personally) but the desktop would be nice.
Hi, i found this little thing, in the settings, when we open the settings, the first config, to choose if we change the desktop or the lockscreen, we can choose the config correctly, just click and close, but when we open the settings windows again always is the first option selectes ("Change both desktop and lockscreen") instead load our config, but the config we choose is working, is just what shows the config windows when we open it.
Bye.
Right now the extension uses a static grey png file as panel icon, which has a few disadvantages:
It lacks the install information in README.md
:
When selecting "Change only Desktop Wallpaper" in the options menu, it is deselected when entering again.
I think it only is not selected, but the option works.
Can be an option that that won't change wallpapers? Just an On/Off switch next to Interval?
I'm only using this extension so I can set my wallpapers folders, and switch backgrounds manually, because G-C-C doesn't let you.
I am using PopOS 20.10 And wanted a random wallpaper change. So i installed Randwall when i install from Firefox It shows a Error buttong and also i do not see icon in tray when i click extension in the list i see randwall when i try to activate its not at all displaying in tray also i can go to its Settings Cog and add image folder but its not activated.

Hi,
The readme mentions that clicking on an image preview would allow you to select an image. For me, nothing happens when you click either of the images.
Can be a right click or a button on the extension indicator, that will launch the extension option window? It is a bit annoying to have to open Tweak Tool.
There's a Fedora bug report for a GNOME Shell crash:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1506435
which to me looks a lot like it may be caused by this extension leaking file descriptors. Note that per the backtrace (attachment named 'backtrace') the crash is caused by 'too many open files' - "Creating pipes for GWakeup: Too many open files" - and the list of open file descriptors (attachment named open_fds) lists 1024 open file descriptors (which is the per-process limit), the majority of which are to do with desktop backgrounds.
Can you please check if there's a bug in the extension code causing it to leak file descriptors somewhere? Thanks.
Is it possible to have an icon, next to the "next" and "random" icon, that will send the path of the file that is currently used as a wallpaper to the clipboard?
FYI I have a directory where I puts wallpapers that I get from archives from the net (wallpapers dump from imgur for example). Sometimes there are some wallpapers that I really dislike or that I don't like anymore. The problem is when I want to find them, it is not easy because I have ~ 4000 wallpapers. So an icon that send the current wallpaper path in the clipboard will be very helpfull.
I have randwall set to change every 360 minutes, and as far as I can tell, that's working, but it also changes every time I lock the desktop. It's not a major problem, but it's a bit jarring!

Hi.
The plugin doesn't seem to support subfolders, it only finds pictures in the folder selected and doesn't recurse into subdirectories. I have a folder where all my pictures are sorted by year, it would be great if you could add support for scanning all subdirectories.
Not work in Gnome 3.32 Ubuntu 19.04
I used the 'next' button to switch to the next wallpaper and all shell extensions were deactivated. However, it doesn't happen every time I click 'next', only sometimes. I'm using Fedora24 (GNOME Shell 3.20.3) and the latest version of randwall from extensions.gnome.org.
Otherwise, I'm very happy with this extension, thank you!
As a user I would like to lock my wallpaper or my lockscreen wallpaper and only randomize the other one. Lock both of them would be nonsense and yet posible.
I'll try this weekend to send you a pull request :)
Hi, I was wondering if it could be possible to add a "hide icon" option ? As, once it's configured, if you don't want to change manually your wallpaper every 30 seconds, the icon is not very useful and also, because I like to have a topbar as "clean" as possible. Thanks.
Hi, i think this would be a nice feature, actually the program only load a random image, but i think would be nice an option to can avoid load again the same image, obvs except if we only have one image, there is no other choise.
Bye
The thumbnail's aspect ratio takes the entire screen into account. I think something along the lines of the following makes a bit more sense:
const getScreenAspectRatio = function() {
let screen = Gdk.Screen.get_default();
let monitor = screen.get_monitor_geometry(screen.get_primary_monitor());
return monitor.height / monitor.width;
};
