Are you thinking in developing the Navbar ?

creating a Breadcrumb with icon the icon html element becomes part of a clickable link. (to my understanding and needs, this shouldn't be like that.)

replicate :

$bc = Html::breadcrumb();
$bc->item('#', 'Dashboard', array('icon' => 'home'));
$bc->item('Final');

echo $bc;

the actual implementation of set_icon(), doesn't allow you to place the icon, outside the 'a' html tag.
