Graphs like Total cases and Total deaths might make more sense as area graphs, instead of bar graphs, since they display cumulative data rather than data points that change day to day.

If you're interested in making such a change it's available in this branch. These are less bugfix-y, and more a matter of personal preference, but I can make a PR if you would like.

Command in scrape.sh out of date. This is a tricky one, since numbers are being reported in an embedded tableau frame

Now refresh, or copy/paste the url to a new window.

Thank you for providing this nice data representation!

Both of these records display repeating 7-day trends, so it might make sense to add a rolling average for both.

In the case of new tests it might make sense to drop Pending tests in favor of a 7-day rolling average, since Ontario seems to be getting all tests done within 1-2 days fairly consistently.

These are less bugfix-y, and more a matter of personal preference, but I can make a PR if you would like. Branch available here.

Thanks for providing this site, it's very useful!

I noticed today that the about link when you click on "About this dashboard" shows a 404 page.

Also, how does the data update? At 10am EST on January 27th, there's already data for January 27th, and it doesn't update later in the day as far as I can tell. Do the underlying datasets get updated with preliminary numbers or something?

Total people fully vaccinated chart (the last chart on the page) has a typo on info box shown on hover. Shows "vacincated" instead of "vaccinated".

command in scrape.sh is out of date

Metabase has been a great tool so far but has limited features for customizing plots and adding interactivity. It also puts the data visualization and plotting outside of version control and consumes a lot of memory.

I looked at a few libraries and having a good experience with Recharts https://recharts.org/en-US/ and will be migrating all my visualizations to there for the next version of this dashboard.

Is there a reason get_latest_news.py isn't in the src/ directory?

The graphs just sit on a spinning circle for Ontario. Multiple browsers and multiple devices

When you just load the page, you can see the overview table (see below). At this point, it would be nice that the table headers were links to the different charts on the page.

Need to run npm run build every time I make a change to make sure the static pages in docs/ get updated.

Sometimes I forget.

This could be automated with a CI/CD tool like CircleCi or Github actions

The stats tab doesn't seem to load. There's a JS error in the console:

Ontario.ca is now showing resolved cases count here: https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus#section-0

It would be helpful to see a graph showing total number of confirmed cases along with resolved and deceased numbers.

Ontario is publishing a dataset showing the percent positivity broken down by age group and date. Worth adding a plot to the Stats page

Takes a while to load and compile. Maybe cache/save the compiled data? Or fetch and load earlier?

Ontario is maintaining a CSV of confirmed cases here (seems to be a few days behind). But no longer need to scrape historical webpages

It seems that ontario.ca changed their website which broke the scraper. https://russell-pollari.github.io/ontario-covid19/ no longer seems to be updating.

Also, the data on https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus#section-0 does not seem to tally with the old data for some reason. As of March 30, 2020 at 10:30 AM, total tests conducted according to the new data are 48,461 as opposed to the current reading on https://russell-pollari.github.io/ontario-covid19/ which lists total tests as 49,190 as or March 29, 2020 at 5:30 PM.

The ResponsiveContainer component from ReCharts does not react well to a shrinking screen. It's very slow.
