But what's interesting – the quicksearch plugin shows up in the frontend, but it's supposed to be suppressed by 2k11's sidebar.tpl …

OK. And as long the PECL Imagick isn't solved, or the Captchas isn't
replaced by bee noboy can comment.

Wow, that could really hurt in testing. I just disabled captchas altogether. I'll close this issue and open up a new one for the quicksearch sidebar plugin.
