asyncscript's Introduction

A new programming language especially designed for NodeJS platform that natively supports the asynchronous programming.

Project Documentation

Features

  • Declarative;
  • Synchronous-like programming style with asynchronous non-blocking execution;
  • Native support for Promise programming pattern;
  • Integration with native JavaScript objects (and existed NodeJS libraries);
  • Compact syntax, easy to use and learn;
  • Written on pure JavaScript;
  • Custom syntax extensions for creating DSL languages
let http = require 'http';

let server = http createServer @@request, response -> {
  response.writeHead(200, <let `Content-Type` = 'text/plain'>);
  response end 'Hello World\n';
};

sever listen 8124;

console log 'Server running at http://127.0.0.1:8124/';

How to install

npm install --global asyncscript

How to run

//save into program.as
let helloWorld = "Hello, world!";
console.info(helloWorld);
asc run ./program.as

You will see Hello, world! on the screen

How to compile

asc compile ./program.as ./program.js -b

Open program.js with text editor and you will see the equivalent JavaScript code.

asyncscript's Issues

Fatal parsing ambiguity

There are no difference between object syntax and complex expression. Therefore, I modify syntax of object expression, for example: const b = {{a = 2, b = 3}};

Deduction operator

Static deduction allows to deduce quoted expression and produces a new lambda:

const a = @@i: %%3 -> %%3: i + %%0 * %%1;
var b = expandq a(5, -10, integer); //equivalent to var b = @i: integer -> integer: i - 50;

Optimization of $ operator

In some cases, expression with $ operator produces more MSIL instruction that is necessary. For example,

${{a: integer}}

produces a new complex object and invokes GetContractBinding on it. This semantics is equivalent to inline construction of ScriptCompositeContract internal object.

Complex expressions

Add support for complex expressions, for example:
var a = { const input = gets(); leave parse(input, integer, void); };
