Thanks for finding our Blind Sailing repository! In this repository you'll find all the code you need to run our blind sailing simulation, along with some of the code we used in the process of deciding on our final product, and some possible additional features. To protect yourself and others, please do not use this software on water if you are not an experienced sailor or accompanied by an instructor. Although our simulation is a good learning exercise, it will not teach you all of the necessary skills to operate a boat. Please seek additional education from certified sailing instructors before going on water. Instructions on how to install and run our program are in the website at the top of the repository! That being said, here is a quick little guide for the simulation:

Navigate the course using the arrow keys. Go around every buoy, and if you're up for a slight challenge, try and do it again without any sort of sense of sight. This will provide some context as to the functionality of our text to speech program.

While you are not heading into the wind, your boat should be moving without the need for you to press the forward button. If you collide too heavily with a buoy, you will reset. If you careen off of the map, you will be reset. Follow the instructions provided in the help menu to learn more specific controls (specifically always remember to switch buoys after passing your designated one, or else the information you're receiving will most likely be irrelevant).
