Air Aware

The aim of this project is to display the current air quality on a given place rendered as a "pollution-level cloud" on 3D map tiles.

This is a project to study Google Maps APIs and how to work with CesiumJs viewer.

Development

This project was generated with Angular CLI version 17.0.10 and uses Tailwind for layouting and styling.

Development server

Run npm start for a dev server. Navigate to http://localhost:4300/. The application will automatically reload if you change any of the source files.

Code scaffolding

Run ng generate component component-name to generate a new component. You can also use ng generate directive|pipe|service|class|guard|interface|enum|module.

Build

Run npm run build to build the project. The build artifacts will be stored in the dist/ directory.

Running unit tests

Run npm run test to execute the unit tests via Karma.

Remember to run coverage-badges-cli --output src/assets/badges/badges.svg before commiting to update the coverage badge.

Add smoothing to camera movement

Currently map camera movent jumps camera position from one side to the next randomly

Ideally, we'd just add a random difference to change the position at any point in time. This might require us knowing what the initial position was and setting some conditional boundaries to move between

Increase test coverage to 80%

Get better coverage especially on mapsService and mapWrapper.

Add current temperature

Can be from something like open meteo's 2m (2 meters from the ground)

Add translation to pollutant info pipe

We should be able to display pollutant name in any supported language, not just English.

Fix sidepanel edges

Side panel should be on top of map and not display like it was on the void to its side

Dropdown does not work in Safari

Improve portuguese translation

Review machine translation of portuguese to make it more natural

Should display more information on each pollutant

Users ask what are the effects of pollutants, how they impact their lives, what are potential emission sources

Review mapWrapper to pass down a config object as opposed to just the key to make cesium calls from

Today mapwrapper has the following inputs

Ideally, instead of key we would pass down vendor-related configs and change, mainly init logic to become more vendor-agnostic.
