yes, you're right. schema_plus by default automatically creates foreign key constraints, whereas redhillonrails_core doesn't do that.

if you don't want schema_plus to automatically create foreign key constraints, you can disable it in three ways:

• disable it globally in config/schema_plus.rb:

  SchemaPlus.setup do |config|
     config.foreign_keys.auto_create = false
  end
  

• disable it for this table:

  create_table :needs, :foreign_keys => {:auto_create => false} do |t|
  

• disable it per column:

  t.references :company, :references => nil

This is great — may be useful in the wiki / docs — ran into it as I had a column name with "_id" in it but that didn't reference a local table.
