I agree with the censorship setting... If we can set that on each game, we
could have
another option on the 'Parental Control' panel for showing/hiding games with the
'censored' flag - or whatever we call it?

@scognito - I'm hoping to build the game settings page over the weekend (click
on
settings button in the game load screen). Are you planning to complete the xml
work
soon? I will continue my work without saving the settings until I hear back
from you.

Implemented in r245 - except for censoring - I've been trying to find out where
this
data is stored in the game but no luck so far...

F1SHE4RS, I took a look through the materials I have looking for anything on the
censorship/game rating concept and I couldn't find anything. My guess is that
it is
somehow handled at the OS level (where the game launch restriction would occur)
and
that it's not a public API to a game developer (come to think of it, why would
a game
want to know it's own rating via that method)... so we may be out of luck here.

Unless we implemented our own rating system, and had the user enter a rating
attribute when they added the game. We could then restrict based on this
attribute?
Just my $.02

how about when parental controls are on, you are given an option to 'hide' a
game.

The logic for drawing the parental locked and shown games will be the same
logic we
use for drawing favorite games; sports games; etc...

I too know the shame of Onechanbara!

Seriously though, the system can clearly access something in each game (and
early in
the boot process) for it's built-in parental controls. I can't find it. It isn't
documented. Our best bet will be to apply user ratings and show/hide as
Beardface says...
I'll take it unless anyone else wants to?

I'm going to mark this as closed. It seems to work; and the hiding/showing is
a new
enhancement.
