Currently, git submodule is not working in CoreOS because Perl is missing, and CoreOS won't fix it (which is fair).

My idea would be to create a Docker image (maybe call it devenv) which is based on Debian and has a few important things installed (like aptitude, curl, git, pv, screen, vim). Then, make sure whenever one of these commands is called from the bare CoreOS VM, it actually maps to exec docker run --whatever COMMAND PARAMS. Which is actually kinda hard, because giving it transparent access to the VM's files is pretty much impossible.

Therefore, it's probably better to throw the user into the devenv container when SSH'ing to the VM.

However, where's the advantage to using CoreOS then in the first place, if the real work is being done in Debian...?
