Found on the siteimprove.com site that some elements of the website have a higher z-index than the altSpan preventing the user from seeing the messages.

Right now if the parent container of the image is small the ALT overlay is restricted to that space. It would be better if it was converted to absolute positioning so it sat above the image element.

I might suggest changed to an rgba color for the background instead of white with opacity. When test driving I noticed that images on the page I was looking at that are already semi-transparent are hidden. Adjusting the CSS helped.

In cases like our silly WP site, where there are bunches of background images, the overlay css .textaltcheck a, .textaltcheck div, .textaltcheck span { background-image: none !important; }

just hides the background. I wonder if there might be an additional warning for large background images as on this page: https://apervita.com/platform/

The traversing of images and other elements is happening on all element. It would be best if it only traversed what is currently in the viewport.

The plugin doesn't work in localhost.
