Authentication

Token

To authenticate with a token (-token option), you need to use a xoxs-* Slack API token, not a regular user token. It looks something like this:

xoxs-abcdefghij-klmnopqrstuv-wxyzabcdefgh-ijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrst

How to obtain the Slack API token

Password

Alternatively, you can provide your -team, -email and -password to let the app obtain a xoxs-* API token for you.

Example

Token auth

$ slack-emoji-upload -token "$MY_TOKEN" emoji/*.*
2018/09/11 11:34:53 reeeeee: uploading "/tmp/emoji/reeeeee.gif"
2018/09/11 11:34:55 reeeeee: uploaded
2018/09/11 11:34:55 yeet: uploading "/tmp/emoji/yeet.png"
2018/09/11 11:34:57 yeet: uploaded

Password auth

$ slack-emoji-upload -team my-team -email "[email protected]" -password "hunter2" emoji/*.*

2018/09/11 11:34:55 reeeeee: uploaded

slack-emoji-upload's Issues

invalid_auth when trying to use both the token and cookie

Hi there.

I've used this tool successfully in the past, but now when I try the token (xoxc-*) and the cookie (xocd-*), neither of them work, resulting in:

2023/01/21 07:19:38 fetching emoji list
2023/01/21 07:19:39 invalid_auth

Any ideas what's up?

Required team even with token given

Acquired binary version of the Git project:
https://github.com/sgreben/slack-emoji-upload/releases/download/1.3.1/slack-emoji-upload_1.3.1_linux_x86_64.zip

Grabbed the slack token by running in web slack:

window.slackDebug.localConfig.getLocalConfigForTeamByKey(
    window.slackDebug.localConfig.getLocalConfigByKey('lastActiveTeamId'),
    'token'
);

Got this error when running the following command:
./slack-emoji-upload -token "token_grabbed_from_the_web_slack" parrots/*.gif

2019/12/16 12:18:24 required parameter: -team
