Laplace

Laplace is a Discord bot which collects statistics about a server and its users.

Getting started

Installation

Prerequisites

Installation

  • Clone the repository.
git clone https://github.com/Shirleh/Laplace.git
  • Start an instance of InfluxDB and set it up.
docker-compose up -d influxdb
  • Generate a read/write token in the InfluxDB UI and save it inside a file influx2_token.txt.
echo "shy-influx2-token" > influx2_token.txt
  • Optionally configure docker-compose.prod.yml to change default Influx properties.
  • Copy the Discord token from the Discord Developer Portal and save it inside a file discord_token.txt.
echo "promiscuous-discord-token" > discord_token.txt
  • Put the id of the superuser role (e.g. staff role) in docker-compose.prod.yml.
  • You can now deploy Laplace! ๐Ÿš€
docker-compose up -d

Collect voice data

Goal

Listen on VoiceStateUpdateEvent, extract the relevant information from the event into a Point, and save it in InfluxDB.

Requirements

The data Point should include the following:

  • tag: guildMemberId
  • tag: guildId
  • tag: channelId
  • field boolean: isInVoice
  • field boolean: isMuted
  • field boolean: isDeafened
  • time: current time

Collect term data

Terms (words) should be collected per channel. Terms are collected from messages, and should undergo some preprocessing to allow for further analysis down the line (e.g. TF-IDF).

Some preprocessing steps:

  • fix character encoding (if applicable)
  • lowercase
  • remove special characters
  • remove punctuation
  • remove stop words
  • stemming

Build fails

Summary
Getting a failing build when trying to start the project. I'm not a Java user, so maybe I'm missing something that the "getting started" did not cover.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install JDK (jdk-14.0.1) with brew (via instructions https://pandacodez.com/tutorial/install-latest-jdk-java-on-mac-using-homebrew/)
  2. Started InfluxDB via Docker (docker run --name influxdb -p 9999:9999 quay.io/influxdb/influxdb:2.0.0-beta)
  3. Ran ./gradlew run --args="MY_TOKEN" --console plain
  4. See error

Collect ban data

The goal is to create a new event listener. The event listener listens to ban events, extracts the relevant data points, and write them into InfluxDB.

Starting point: datacollection.Listeners.kt

Event class: BanEvent

Data points:

  • time of the event
  • id of the guild member who issued the ban
