Seed Security

Who gives us food to eat? Plants. Who can feed us at scale? Human factories? Natural factories. Plants. We have an inextricable interdependence on plants.

During evolution, species adapt to the conditions they face, over the period of several thousand millenium of years, as they reproduce. After an immensely long period of time, we get a species. Eg, bananas, cauliflowers. These didn't exist when life first started. These evolved, and so evolved our interdependence between flora and fauna.

Different varieties have different properties and qualities. Eg, sweet potato vs normal potato. So there are several varieties of rice and several varieties of food crops and fruits. Each have wonderful potentials and beneficial qualities for life on earth. Nature has given us ample.

Death vs extinction. If we fail to cultivate a certain variety for a long period of time, and then lose its seed also, and we make a species extinct, it is gone forever, and gone with it are the benefits that came to us through the period of slow evolution. Try hard as we may, no human made laboratory or scientist or industrial establishment can bring back an extinct species from extinction.

Different varieties, have nutritional advantages to them as well. The greater and healthier the variety, the good the chances we have to nutritiously feed our population and people.

Companies. Seed, fertilizer and pesticide companies, are the bad players here.
