I was looking in the Google Play store. I see that you've created both "Simple App Launcher" and "Simple Launcher".

I have never used either app. I looked in the Play Store descriptions of both apps, and I can't tell the difference between them. What is the advantage of each app? What is the disadvantage of each app?

It would be good if you could please edit the Play Store description of both apps, in order to tell us the advantage and disadvantage of each of the two apps.

Yes, users could just install both apps and figure out the difference themselves. But it would save them time to be able to just read about the difference instead.

LineageOS provides a Style API, see: https://wiki.lineageos.org/sdk/api/styles.html
If your SimpleMobileTools would make use of this API, your apps could change background color and app icon color according to system color. This would make you apps look really good out of the box and would make them really attractive on lineageOS!

If you have many apps installed and you increase the number of columns it may happen that the + button at the bottom right overlaps the icons not allowing you to start the apps below, to avoid this problem maybe you could think of moving the + button in the top bar

If I change my locale, in Launcher3 all apps change their names to localized versions, but in in Simple-App-Launcher they are still in English.

first of all thanks for this great app.
Unfortunately i have this problem with latest release (same with your Gallery app). If i try to update with F-Droid, it forces F-droid to close and don’t install.
In addition, i tried to manually download the apk file from github (Gallery app, for App launcher latest release there is no apk on github) and when i try to access the download folder, file manager suddenly closes. I have to manually remove the apk file by connecting device to PC and using PC file manager.
I had the same problem with other apps and it was related to a bug with android build tools:

For other apps it has then been solved by changing build tools to 27.0.1.
I'm not a developer so i can't help you more than this.. sorry.

I have this app setup up to activate when I enter my car. So i use it as an car launcher. But the icons are a but small then. Would be great if we can increase the size of the icons

I love this launcher being open source and ad free, but no search bar or folders is a deal breaker for me, could this be implemented?

Hi, so looking back at the history of these translations, the reverting back to english for app names and app launcher name. Is it happening automatically due every time plugin updates, or there is no need for translating the App Name.

Notes: Apps names are not literally translated, just transliterated.

Custom app categories would be a nice edition to this app. Having a games section, reading section etc. would make everything more organised

It would be better if there is some kind of way of reordering them, save for renaming them.

I changed the theme color which was fine.

When I changed the icon color I see the message "Whoops ... Unable to launch that app".

Hi @tibbi this is a very interesting app. If you allow it to be associated with home button (my phone allows it to be long pressed only not slipped), I think this app could replace the outdated Swipeup Utility. And if you could make it run as a overlay (look at the mentioned app) it would be even cooler.

it should be, when I press the "option" feature and select the "settings" feature then change the "Use English Language" button, in the Simple App application the language will change, but the language remains unchanged.

Actual behavior

when I open the application and change the setting "Use English Language" in app simple app, the language does not change even though I have changed the icon.

How to reproduce

1. Install the application.

2. Open the app.

3. Click on icon (other options) in the app and click on the settings feature then select the "Use English Language" feature, then you will find the same problem as I experienced.

It broke with getting properly localized labels

when I select the "avoid showing what's new on startup" feature on the "Setings" icon, the startup view will change, but the startup view does not change at all and still in the same view.

Actual behavior

when I change the display "avoid showing what's new on startup" in the simple app Launcher, the startup view does not change even though I've changed the settings icon.

How to reproduce

1. Install app.

@tibbi Not sure what you are doing, but it's breaking all your apps building scripts one by one... ;(

It would be ideal to have an accept or cancel button while in "icon arrangement mode" as it may not be clear to some users to press the back button or deselect all selected apps in order to accept the changes.

With the last update of this, and several other Simple Mobile Tools applications, I noticed this particular note in the changelog:

• Allow customizing app colors only after a Simple Thank You purchase

What does that mean, is this a regression in usability and what's the reason behind such decision? Am I now supposed to pay for a feature in a suite of tools that I think were always supposed to be free? I'd like an honest explanation before I decide to update anything.

App icon arrangement is reverted to the order it was in prior to entering "icon arrangement mode" if an additional app is added to the launcher while still in icon arrangement mode.

Why don't you put your apps up on some translation service, so that people can translate your apps to make them available for more people?

I know its possible to translate apps via pull requests, but I think a translation service like eg. crowdin.com is also accessbile for non-developers.

On crowdin you can apply for a free opensource license.

Add fast scrollbar to app selection (addition) screen, because even with columns a big list of apps can become boring to scroll completely....

How could I easily modify the code to allow me to change the package name without getting a warning the first time the launcher starts? I would be glad to keep the name unchanged, but for technical reasons I need to change it (I need to fool my launcher into displaying it ;-} ). I see the issue is caused by implementing simplemobiletools commons.

Please add options for more organizing apps like folder/custom category and/or manual sorting

I think there the need for a "Simple launcher" (home screen). It would be nice to use this app as launcher, possibly supporting widgets, or to have another dedicated app that just shows widgets and launches this App Launcher as its "drawer".

Similar to Samsung Knox, allow setting a swipe/pin/password and encryption of the apps within in a virtual container.

I just installed SimpleAppLauncher from F-Droid. When accessing e.g. the SimpleCamera from it it opens up the Google PlayStore.

I checked Settings for an option to use F-Droid for missing Apps without the necessity to make F-Droid the System Default.

Would that be possible: Offering a choice which Store to use for missing Apps?

I am interested in it in general, even if SimpleMobileTools don't like to offer it, let me ask for a hint what to research and study to enable such a feature on a per-app basis.

Hey, this app is very useful!

The only thing that I would like added is the option to have multiple pages (left/right), instead of a single scrolling page.

Also, to have the option to divide the pages by app type (or any desired reason).

This would allow a user to have all apps alphabetized through multiple pages, or to alphabetize individual pages separate from the others.

My personal use for this would be to have media apps on one page, and tool apps on another.
