Update Theme Settings Framework

A user reported receiving an error message in the customizer after installing Focus. I went to see why this issue was occurring and found that this issue has already been fixed here. To resolve this issue, we'll need to release a theme update with the updated Theme Settings Framework.

Add support for the custom-logo

Expand the existing logo function to include support for the custom-logo.

Fix search widget styling in PB:

Add Icons settings group

Similar to that of the North Icons settings group, the user should be able to easily adjust the icons of the theme.

Single Post Navigation: Add next and previous inline with video

Add single post navigation arrows to the right and left of the video. Might need to make this a default off setting.

Add Jetpack Infinite Scroll compatibility

Add Jetpack Infinite Scroll compatibility. Will take a little bit of extra work because of the grid layout.

Output Featured Images on Pages

Currently you're able to set a featured image on a page, but they won't output.

When Use First Page Builder Row enabled, video hidden

When you enable the "Use First Page Builder Row", it prevents the video plugin from outputting the video itself. There are a number of instances where this could be undesired so it might be a good idea to fix it.

Focus: Responsive Layout setting should be checkbox

The responsive layout setting in the customizer should be a checkbox rather than a text field.

Post Author Widget: Ensure strings are translatable

Let's ensure the Post Author Widget is translation ready.

Change Search Icon into a font icon rather than an image icon

The theme setting that adds a search icon to the navigation uses an image for the icon. This makes it hard to help users adjust the color. It would be a good idea to convert this into a font icon so that if the user adjusts the color of the menu item links, the search icon will be adjusted too.

Add a loop file for the home page slider

The end goal is to allow users to replicate the home page using Page Builder only. My rough plan is as follows:

Create a loop-slider.php file so that the home page slider can be deployed from the Post Loop (PB) widget.
The Theme Settings that affect the slider like categories should only impact the home page slider when the home page is set to display latest posts.

I'm not quite sure how we can integrate the other slider settings into the Post Loop widget. Any ideas Adi? Hopefully I'm making sense above. Let me know if I can explain further.

Ability to define default video image in thumbnail grid

Currently, there's no easy way to override the default thumbnail for images that don't have a featured image. The ability to override the template with either a setting or a filter to change the default image.

Display Category Description

It would be a lot of sense for the user to be able to display a category description. This is especially true due to the nature of the theme .

Neaten up name of Post Author Widget

Neaten up the name of the Focus Post Author widget. Remove underscores so that it presents nicely in PB.

Home Page Slider should ignore posts that don't have featured images

If I, for example, set four featured images for the five most recent posts, it'll only show four images. It should return the full count of slider images. So in instances where the very next post (ie. the sixth post) has a featured image, it'll return that one.

Replace height: auto; for img with a global

There's a number of instances where img has height: auto; applied. We should remove them and instead do a general img selector for it.

Focus: Thumbnail Pagination doesn't seem to work for certain users

The thumbnail grid pagination doesn't seem to be working for some users. Basically, a few things can happen:

paged gets reset (page gets removed from the URL) < I was able to replicate this
Newer Posts never shows up

Recommending Focus Videos plugin

Add Focus Videos to TGM.
Install link on single post still downloads from Amazon, should rather prompt an install from the directory.

Add a widget area to the recent posts page

The big highlight of the focus theme is honestly the recent posts page which is great however it offers next to zero customization options. I think a widget area or two would really help improve this page. The widget area could go before the "videos" or / and after the videos.

Add TGM to Focus

Once Focus Videos is on the directory, add TGM to suggest installing it.

Add Search in Menu setting to theme settings

There was search in menu functionality in a previous version of Focus. This functionality, while still present, isn't able to be enabled due to there no long being a theme setting. Here's the default setting value Here's the search header functionality

Move stylesheet font import to functions

Move the stylesheet Google font import into functions.php.

Slider: Make reference to default slider post count

It seems odd that we don't make direct reference to the fact that the default value for post count is 5.

When Page Builder is active, add custom home page

Focus has the ability to display the custom homepage editor (like Vantage), but due to a few checks (such as this one), it'll instead opt to remove the custom homepage editor when it detects that Page Builder is active.

Videos: Add ability to use Focus Video Plugin on pages

The ability to embed videos (via the Focus Video functionality) on pages has been requested quite often in my experience. It adds a more consistent look to the website as normally you would have to embed inside of the post rather than the typical above the post location.

Create a loop file for the home thumbnail grid

Create a loop-grid.php (or choose own name) for the home thumbnail grid. The idea is that the home grid thumbnail loop can be used on any page using the Post Loop widget which searches for templates with names:

Not quite sure why this didn't happen in original testing. Error came up today making videos in another install I use for that. Error occurred on a page not using Page Builder.

In certain Customizer menus a SiteOrigin Premium button is present with the header Array above it

Presumably either this isn't meant to be visible yet, or the title isn't meant to be.

There's little reason to separate the jPlayer assets. We should move the contents of the jplayer directory to js/jplayer

Add a new page template to recreate the home page layout

With our loop templates ready we just need a page template so that users can re-create the home page layout. Home Page Template seems a bit limited as this can be used for building archive pages in PB. Should we perhaps call it: Full-Width - No Title

Incorrect reference to jPlayer

The enqueue for the jPlayer js actually points to the wrong location of /jplayer/jquery.jplayer.(min).js rather than js/jplayer/jquery.jplayer.(min).js.
