On the used hardware it takes about 2 sec. to compare two files with about 500 bytes 100,000 times. In 100 ms it would process 500 bytes 500 times or 250000 bytes (250 kb) in a single run (pretending it would scale almost linear). The calculation highly depends on how similar the files are, because the comparison of each line is run from the last position which is remembered as a matching line of both files, and has to compare all lines from this position to a match or the end of the file. When the files are completely different, it will always range over the whole second file.
