Hey everyone, I am Snehil Sanyal. As of Jan 2023, I am completely shifting my focus from academia to open-source development and industrial opportunities. I will still do some research work outside the academic framework, but will prioritize hands-on open source experience and my own ideas which I have been keeping in pending list for so long. I am also self-learning about foundation models, LLMs and Generative AI in my passtime in the top-down approach (building projects first and learn as a consequence).

1. Oct 2023 - Present: Contributed to Hugging Face Community Driven Computer Vision Course as team lead for two units: Multimodal Models and Ethics and Bias in AI. Flow involved: course outline creation, issue creation, preparing content and notebooks, team interaction and feedback, reiterating on content, push to main repository, review by HF team, finally merging the content. 2. Aug - Nov 2023: Successfully completed the KaggleX BIPOC Mentorship Program as a Mentee for Cohort 3 (Project Focus: Ethics/Bias, BIPOC Representation in Data Science). 3. Aug - Oct 2023: Successfully completed OpenMined's Padawan Program as a Mentee for R5Q3 Cohort (Privacy Preserving AI and PETs).
4. May 2023: I am now a Kaggle Dataset Expert (1X Expert) 🤗🥇🥈🥉
5. Apr - Jul 2023: Worked as an Associate Data Scientist for Ascendeum Pvt. Ltd. (Research and Development role for LLMs, LangChain, transformers, text to SQL).
6. Jan - Apr 2023: Open Source Development and community sprints (gradio-theme party, scikit-learn sprint)

• Pursued PhD from IIT Guwahati under the supervision of Prof. M. K. Bhuyan.
• My research work invovled : Facial Emotion Recognition, Graph Representation Learning, Manifold Learning.
• Collaborations with Prof. Debanga Raj Neog and Iwahori Lab, Chubu University.
• I am currently looking for opportunities through which I can aid my research work and contribute to Open Source.

• Before joining PhD, I completed my Masters from DIAT Pune in Robotics.
• I worked as a Project Intern at Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR, DRDO India's Defense Lab working on AI and Robotics).
• My work was on Monocular Depth Estimation and Location Estimation of objects using Drones.
