A field to toggle the menu item visibility depending on the users role.

Groundworks already in place with slug_type field. Link directly to page slug by it's ID and cache the result to prevent requerying the database.

Cache each NavigationItem separately, updating when a NavigationItem is updated, or it's Page (if related by slug) is updated.

Then cache each navigation category, containing all of it's cached items, updating whenever a navigation item cache is invalidated.

Categorise NavigationItems so we can distinguish header menus, footer menus, etc. Consider the follow:

• Allowed NavigationItemTypes
• Max depth
• Max root items

Attach fields to NavigationItems so we can create custom settings

Give NavItems a type so that we can default setting/field relationships
