It's understandable that this plugin was hardcoded to use MySQL, because that's what its daddy https://github.com/zigdon/xkcd-Bucket uses. But Sopel uses SQLAlchemy to support all kinds of database backends now (thanks to your own work, Rusty!) and it would be great if, at least for new users, this plugin could just drop in and work without having to set up a MySQL database just for it.

I saw that this plugin's readme has an LGTM badge. LGTM is deprecated, to be replaced by GitHub code scanning as happened in the main project (sopel-irc/sopel#2381).

Don't know why there's been no automatic PR to convert this repo, but the deprecation is supposed to be coming right up later this month so I thought it should be put on the radar.

With the conversion from rst to md, it looks like the documentation format on https://pypi.org/project/sopel-modules.bucket/ broke

I can't get to all of the plugins at once, and we think this is a lesser-used one. But I intend to get to them all Eventually™ and creating an issue that I can self-assign helps with that.

(The project doesn't collect any analytics, so we have only anecdotal evidence and guesses to figure out which plugins are frequently used. Guessing is probably good enough. Probably.)
