outlook-addon's Issues

Plug-in does not work in Outlook 2013 (64 bit)

A report that when using Outlook 2013 64 bit but installing the Outlook Add-on does not work - it does not show up at all in the list of plug-ins, although it does show up in the list of installed applications.

The Outlook product version is:

Microsoft Corporation Product Version: 15.0.4569.1506

OS: Windows 8.1

Reporting hangs in Outlook 2013 (64 bit)

A report that the Outlook plug-in is hanging and the message is not being reported.

The user tried to report a message and left it over night and in the morning it was in the same point. There is no error returned and the only option he has available is Cancel.

Add support for report confirmation

The Outlook addon reports the message to the central system. There is no confirmation when a message is reported. It would be good if there was some way to show if a message was correctly reported/trained. (or error if not)

Some messages do not arrive properly formatted

Some messages are apparently not transferred to the training server correctly.

The original file is in Trac #22609 (it cannot be attached here, and it's binary so can't be put in a gist).

Additional DLLs required on some Windows versions

Some users are experiencing DLL issues when installing. Tested it on a 2007/2010 Outlook and it worked fine, however some user's versions of these still require a DLL to be added which shouldn’t be the case. Re-compiled using Visual Studio 2010; however, when this program was written it was complied in VS6.

Re-tested on a clean VM 32bit XP SP3 with .Net framework 2.0 and get the following error:

Module C:\Program Files\Outlook Spam Report addon\ReportSpam.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895 Contact your support personnel

Installed the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)" and was successfully installed.

The original relies on msvcrt.dll; the new version requires that but also msvcr90.dll (dependancy data attached).

Plug-in does not work with Outlook 2016 (64 bit)

It seems on a Windows 10 machine (64bit) using Outlook 2016 the plug-in does not load anywhere.

The installation goes fine, however Outlook fails to see this as a plug-in.

I have debug log enabled for Outlook but so far no sign of any logs regarding this plug-in.

It does seem to work with 32 bit Outlook 2016.

When pasting an URL/PDF in Outlook it pastes the SE add-on icon instead

Version information

Outlook 2013
version 15.0.4971.1000

Steps to replicate

  1. Copy an URL and paste it into Outlook in a new mail body text

  2. Copy a PDF(from a shared network) and paste it in a new mail body text

Actual result

A client has an issue where he pastes an URL or a PDF(ctrl+v) in Outlook, sometimes it paste's the SpamExperts add-on icon instead. If he deletes the icon and pastes again then the proper attachment is pasted.

Expected result

It should paste what is copied in the clipboard instead of the add-on icon

Other notes

I've had the client to try and reproduce the issue with in Outlook safe mode(the add-ons are not running) to see if the issue is on Outlook or on the add-on, but he didn't managed to reproduce the issue in safe mode.

Outlook (randomly) crashes when reporting large (6MB>) emails

Outlook 2013-2016.

When you try to report messages over 6MB outlook can randomly crash. Messages do actually get reported , however as the application crashes then the message does not get removed (and therefore thinks it did not report).

Unable to find any decent debug logging here.

Report if addon update is available

It would be great if the addon with submit the current addon version when reporting spam, and to prompt the user if a newer addon version would be available (including a download link).
