auroracrashpatcher's Introduction

AuroraCrashPatcher

Quick patch to prevent fatal crashing when downloading title assets (boxart, etc) through FSD or Aurora. As of v0.2-beta, this patch should work for everyone, regardless of geographic location (both in and outside of the US).

Install/Usage

Whuddaydo-wid-dis...

Note that this is not an Aurora plugin - meaning you use it by adding it to your plugins through DashLaunch (or editing launch.ini directly) - not by attempting to run it like an Aurora script/plugin/whatever.

If you don't use Aurora/FSD, don't bother. If you do, download the compiled xex and add to your plugins to prevent the crashing. If you do use this crap, be sure to remove from plugins once the devs release an official patch.

WTH?

Ye, I know. Hacky af, but it works. It's a quick fix, nothing more, nothing less. Not to be used as a guide to best coding standards; threw it together in a couple hours, and hopefully the Aurora/FSD devs will be able to release an official patch soon, deprecating this. Use at your own risk.

Note to Aurora/FSD devs

If you want to automatically disable this patch on users' consoles with your next update, simply add a call to XAM ordinal 0x43 with "aurora.crash.patched" as the first parameter, ignoring the result (see DllMain.cpp:31). If the patch is running on the user's console, that will trigger a self-unload and wipe this patch from the user's console. As of v0.3-beta, AuroraCrashPatcher will automatically disable itself for the duration of that session until the next title reboot if an updated version of Aurora or FSD is detected (see DllMain.cpp:46)

Disclaimer

Neither this repo, nor myself, are directly affiliated with Aurora or FSD, or their development teams.

NOTE:

This patch can still be used for FSD. Following the release of this patch, I was brought on to the Aurora team (Phoenix), and consequently the latest release of Aurora has been updated to fix this bug, making this patch no longer necessary.

Kernel build 17511 detected...you really should update

After adding the patch to my Aurora's launch.ini file, when I start the dash these messages appear on the log. Is it fine or should I update my kernel (is it updateable?)?

Also, I'm trying to run a RGHed version of Worms Collection on my Jasper XBOX360, I copy the Worms folder from my USB thumb drive to the HDD, but it keeps crashing and rebooting my console when I try to run it. I thought this patch could help with this matter but it still crashes.
Any ideas how can I fix this ? Thanks !

AuroraCrashPatcher v1.2 issues

Hello!
When using the AuroraCrashPatcher.xex v1.2 plugin, I encountered the following problem:
In games, after launching the [REFRESH] icon, I always download only 3 files for me. You did not automatically add these files to the components of the game. I had to restart Aurora. Now I'm there to add the 3 files in principle, but nothing changes. Game covers not show and not downloading, even though they used to work without a patch.
Time refresh not working after restart.

What causes the biggest problem is that after removing the plugin from DashLaunch, those things still persist.

I think too much hardware, software versions and DL settings are causing the problem. Maybe we should focus more on "NetDbgDll.xex".

The good news, however, is that CRASH events (unhandled exception) have disappeared.

I downloaded AuroraCrashPatcher v1.2 for the following reason:

In Aurora, after change the marketplace region, an unhandled exception occurred for games when [REFRESH] was selected. It writes "NetDbgDll.xex" incorrectly load in the error log. Only downloading and applying covers could work normally. I still don't know if moving the "backup" games to the new HDD along with the rehashed resigned savegame backups and DLCs may have something to do with it.

I used to use FSD, but after the HDD upgrade, the empty covers after the manual search at older games (not xbla) didn't appear, so I couldn't launch them, which is a mystery to me.

System: Aurora 0.7b1 (hotfix release)
Kernel: 2.0.17502.0
Hardware: Xbox 360 s Slim Trinity
Hardware production time: 2010-06-14
DashLaunch version: V3.10 (535)

Best Regards: Steve

stuck on xbox logo

trying this out, added it as plugin inside dashlaunch
when i reboot i'm stuck on the xbox360 logo

maybe i'm doing something wrong

Aurora dev interested in fixing this properly.

Hey, finally got access to the full aurora source tree, and was planning on doing some bug fixes, and possibly new features. The first thing that should be fixed though is this asset issue. Since you were able to track it down, and dns patch it, any chance you could hit me up on discord, so we can discuss what the actual issue is, would be helpful in tracking down and fixing the issue in the aurora codebase. let me know if you are interested.

'unhandled exception' still popping up.

extracted it via USB,

edited my launch.ini file, i go to the refresh button in Aurora and attempt to refresh to download assets, boxart, screenshots, etc etc, and still gives me an error.

Note: im located in Australia, if that helps. :)
