Use FFMPEG to detect scene changes about subtitleedit HOT 2 CLOSED

Yeah, actually I've seen similar feature in other software for generating perfect ttimelines. Imagine that, with this feature, you can generate the whole timeline by a few clicks, then you can go to enjoy a cup of coffee. When you come back, the timecode has been done. 😄 There is no doubt that it can be extremely useful feature (but probably difficult to implement)

I have to say that I tried this with another kind of videos (mp4) and it didn't work.
(Just to clarify: this would detect scene changes, not assign times to subtitles.)

But I found a better way to detect scene changes. Someone has programmed an extension for VisualSubSync called "VSS companion". It includes a program called "Generate Scene Change File":

I tried it and it generates a perfect file with all the scene changes (which can be imported manually into Subtitle Edit). It takes a couple of minutes as it has to analyze every frame. It uses AviSynth and Haali Media Splitter as shown here:

I still don't know how it works, though.
