Cannot well merge 3 or 3+ lines? about subtitleedit HOT 3 CLOSED

Though I think it should depend on the "Max. number of lines" option. e.g. when the number is set to 3, then SE will not automatically remove all breaks while merging lines no more than 3. It is sometimes needed in some cases. However, I'll close it since we still got workaround.

I've been checking this in professional software (EzTitles and Fab Subtitler). They both have two commands:

• Merge with previous
• Merge with next

So, you can't merge 3 subtitles in professional software, but you CAN in Subtitle Edit. :-)
However, after merging, both tested programs DO keep line breaks.
This has its pros and cons. On one hand, they don't mess with the line breaks the user could have manually inserted; on the other hand, if two two-line subtitles are merged, the result is a four-line subtitle (HORROR!).

So, there seems to be no right or wrong here.

@rebawest Thanks a lot for the try. So it seems to be made on purpose huh? No problem, I know,3+breaks per line is normally unwanted, but I'm sure somebody may need it under particular cases, such as "WARNING" texts lyrics or formula, etc, or even prepared for further advanced editing like in Aegisub. I bet someone (like me) got their chances to use it.

I should say big thanks to SE for helping avoiding 3+ breaks for users, but I really suppose it would be better to leave them the option to decide whether or not they need such gentle care. IMHO. :)
