deviantanywhere-chrome's Issues

Unable to hide pop-up?

The pop-up that shows when I got a new message used to be able to be hidden from a little bell icon that would pop up on my taskbar whenever chrome was opened (I use Windows 10), and just yesterday, this bell stopped appearing, preventing me from hiding the popup from the DeviantAnywhere addon. Could someone fix this please?

Connection problems

I've been using DeviantAnywhere for a while now (about a year or so) and i've never ran into any problems before, but for some reason, it's not displaying anything whatsoever now, it has the picture of the deviantart fella, and the text deviantAnywhere, but nothing Else.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it (both the add on and firefox) and even tried downloading it on google chrome, but it's still not working.

_bug

'Go to messages' takes you to the wrong inbox

When you receive a message in one of the groups, when you press on "Go to messages" currently it takes you to the main account inbox, even if that has no new messages.

This is not desirable. Instead, go to the first inbox that has a new message inside.

Different icons for different inboxes

Users should be able to choose different icons for different groups displayed in the widget to differentiate at a glance which message is for which group.

Custom sounds

It should be possible for the user to choose a sound from his computer to be used for new messages.

Follow multiple accounts

It should be possible for the add-on to follow multiple deviantArt accounts at once or separately.

Settings Panel Sizing

Seems the settings pane sizes oddly when you switch tabs, whenever it opens with a tab other than the "look" or "Connection" tab as default. The other 2 as default tabs crop off some settings in every panel.
OSX 10.5.8
FF 3.6.15

The widget should be smaller when no messages

Currently, the widget displays "No messages" when there are no messages in the inbox.

There should be and options in the settings to give the user a choice for smaller widget in this case.

Firefox lags

Having problems with firefox temporarily freezing every time devany checks for messages. The lag goes away when Devany is deactivated.

New message sound after FF update

Hi again.

So, I've been having this issue with the sound for a new message. I upgraded to 13.0 recently... I'm guessing that's what did it.

Whenever the system updates and there's a new message, I get the update sound playing more times than I can count. If I had to guess at what the number was related to, I'd have to say number the total tabs or windows that were open over the entire session that I've had FF open for. It even continues to do it when I don't have a window or tab open, but FF is still running <- completely new behavior.

When I restart firefox, it seems to go back to normal for a while.

Adapt Chrome version for manifest version 2

Chrome manifest version 2 comes with a mandatory strict Content Security Policy.
Changes are required for the extension to work under it, and the Web Store version cannot be updated until it's done.

Pick colors by code

Picking a color for deviantAnywhere through a code, that way there would be more choices.

Custom placement

It shall be possible for the user to place the add-on widget on whatever bar he wants, inside Firefox.

Extension non-functional in Chrome 47

Pretty much as the title says, as of about one week ago the extension has stopped functioning entirely within Chrome; no message bar on the bottom of the screen, no message notifications. The extension itself is still running, but doesn't actually do anything.

Seems to be a widespread issue judging from recent comments on the DA group's page, some theorizing that it could also be the fault of a DA update - both DA and Chrome had updates around the same timeframe - but the fact that the pop-up message bar is gone entirely and the add-on DOES still work in Firefox suggests that it's an issue with Chrome primarily. (may still be some fault to DA updates, but it doesn't seem to be the case.)

Collapse the add-on

Because it may contain a lot of messages, it should be possible to collapse the add-on to the icon, and display a total number of messages and a way to determine if there are new ones.

Follow goups messages

It should be possible for the add-on to follow messages from inside a group that you own.

Remake Firefox extension with the new SDK

The deviantAnywhere Firefox extension was one of my favorites for a long while, but it wasn't updated for quite a long time. It's so old that it's still requires the status toolbar to be displayed, even though the thing doesn't exist anymore in the recent versions of Firefox. It was making the notification sounds though.

Using the Firefox Developer Edition 38.0a2 (what would be the alpha channel), which is 64-bit by the way, doesn't even produce any kind of sound anymore. Probably deprecated something that made the extension work until now. That means that when Firefox reach version 38, it will probably stop working altogether for all the other users.

Meanwhile, I noticed that another cool extension I'm using, Video DownloadHelper, was rewroten from the scratch and jumped from their eternal 4.9.something versions to the 5.0 versions. It uses now a new JavaScript-based API which makes it all sort of awesome. Using it makes the extensions restartless, very lightweight and, from what I heard, much easier to maintain.

Since the Chrome extension seems new, I was thinking that maybe you would consider doing a new version for Firefox too.
